Why are our fingers cooler than the rest of our body during winters?

This is a very peculiar thought ever comes to our mind during winters when we encounter that our fingers remain cold while the rest of our body parts overcome cold more quickly during winter.

There is a short and simple explanation for this query.

The basic concept lies here is the surface area of the body.As we already know that human body is like a container of heat and the amount of heat per unit volume(say, every cubic centimeter) of the body is approximately the same.In simple words, the heat released from the body depends upon the surface area(cubic centimeter) of that body part.In compare to other body parts, fingers and nose have greater surface area per cubic centimeters and so they cool down faster. The heat delivers to the fingers escapes much faster through the greater surface area and hence fingers remain cold.
