New Zealand clinched test series against India 1-0

On 18th February 2014, New Zealand won test series 1-0 against India in Wellington, New Zealand. The 2nd test resulted in a draw. Skipper Brendon McCullum of New Zealand created history by notching up the first triple century (302 runs) in the 2nd test which led to a draw. Chasing an improbable 435 in a minimum of 67 overs, India finished on 166 for three. The test concluded as draw at the beginning of the mandatory overs. From Indian side, Virat Kohli scored 105 runs. Brendon McCullum declared Man of the Match in 2nd match.

India crashes out of Under 19 World Cup Cricket by England

Defending Under 19 Cricket World Cup Champion, India crashed out of the tournament after a three wicket defeat to England in the quarterfinals. India scored 221 for eight by batting first, but England chase down the target with five balls remaining. A 51 run 7th wicket partnership between Clarke and Rob Jones of England proved crucial.


Somdev Devvarman  won ATP Men’s single Tennis title

On Sunday, 23rd Feb 2014, Somdev Devvarman won his 3rd ATP singles title in Delhi Open by defeating top seed Olexendr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-1 in the final of USD 100000 ONGC-GAIL open in R K Khanna Tennis stadium, New Delhi. Delhi open win helped Devvarman jump 18 places to become world No. 78 in the World’s ATP rankings released after the Delhi Open.

Rafael Nadal clinched Rio Open Title 2014

World No. 1 tennis player Rafael Nadal clinched his 62nd ATP title by defeating Ukraine’s Alexendr Dolgopolov 6-3, 7-6 to win the Rio Open Title. The victory in Rio de Janeiro earned him 500 Emirates ATP ranking points and $316,400 as prize money.

Venus William won WTA Dubai Open

Seven time Grand Slam champion Venus William recently won the WTA Dubai Open, after a gap of 16 months. The American successfully defeated Alize Cornet of France, 6-3, 6-0 and clinch her first title. William won her 45th career title and joined Justine Henin as the only player to win the Dubai Title at least three times.

Ilija Bozoljac won State Bank of India Kolkata ATP challenger Trophy

Unseeded Ilija Bozoljac of Serbia thrashed third seeded Evgeny Donskoy of Russia 6-1, 6-1 to win State Bank of India $50,000 ATP Challenger in Kolkata. With this win, Bozoljac won 6 Singles title.



Sourav Kothari won National Billiard Championship

Sourav Kothari won National Billiard Championship held in Lucknow. He beat Alok Kumar 5-3 and successfully grabbed his maiden National Title.
