SBI has released the notification for the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) 2015. This time, SBI has come up with a three stage pattern comprising Preliminary examination, Mains examination followed by Group discussion and Personal Interview.

The online registration will commence from 13.04.2015 till 02.05.2015

The preliminary examination will be conducted tentatively in the month of June 2015 and will be of qualifying nature, as the marks secured in this phase will not be considered to prepare the final merit.

The preliminary examination will consist of a total of 100 questions required to be answered in 1 hour.

Subject No. of Questions Marks

Based on the performance of students in preliminary examination, candidates will be shortlisted for the second phase, i.e. Mains Examination. As per the notification, the number of students called for the mains examination would be roughly 20 times of the total vacancies. In this way, around 40,000 candidates will be called for the mains examination.

The mains examination will be of 2 hours duration comprising 200 marks (4 sections of 50 marks each) followed by an online descriptive paper of 50 marks to be answered in 1 hour. It will assess the letter and essay writing skills of the candidates. By conducting the online descriptive paper, it seems that SBI is planning to assess the typing speed of the candidates.

The candidates who qualify in the above two stages will be called for the final phase of the recruitment, i.e, Group discussion and Personal Interview.

A final merit will be prepared based on the combined marks secured by candidates in Phase-II and Phase-III respectively. The weightage of marks in the final selection will be in the ratio of 75:25 for phase-II and phase-III respectively. In other words, marks secured by candidates in phase-II (out of 250)will be converted to marks out of 75, and marks secured in phase-III (out of 100)will be converted into marks out of 25.
