Thomas Bach is a former fencer of Germany and is the 9th president of IOC(International Olympic Committee). In Summer Olympics 1976 in Montreal, Thomas Bach and his team won Gold medal in fencing.

Thomas Bach of Germany has been elected as the president of IOC (International Olymic Committee) in Buenos Aires (Argentina ). Thomas Bach is a lawyer by profession, and is the first Olympic gold medalist to assume office of IOC presidentship .

Thomas Bach won in the second round of voting by securing 49 votes against his fellow rivals to become the 9th IOC president . Thomas Bach will succeed Jacques Rogge who will step down after 12 years of being in charge.
